Delzy Alarcon
Booth 026Delzy Alarcon is a dual citizen of the United States and El Salvador whose work is shaped by a borderless upbringing and a deep connection to both cultures. Raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland—where the majority of the Hispanic population is Salvadoran—Alarcon developed a strong sense of cultural identity and community that continues to inform their artistic practice. They earned an associate degree from Montgomery College during the Covid-19 pandemic while interning at VisArts, and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2024 with a BFA in General Fine Arts and minors in Illustration and Painting.
As a finalist in the 2022 AXA Art Prize exhibition in New York, Alarcon’s work has received recognition for its intersection of personal narrative and broader social histories. Their work has been exhibited in both academic and community-based spaces, including a solo exhibition at Red Emma’s Bookstore Coffeehouse in Baltimore. Alarcon’s dual citizenship and close ties to Central America continue to fuel a commitment to community-driven and socially engaged art practices.
Currently based in Baltimore, MD, Alarcon works at Art with a Heart and as a Registered Behavior Technician while pursuing further training in art therapy. Through both their studio practice and community involvement, they explore the transformative power of art, merging creative expression with healing practices, and creating spaces for storytelling, resilience, and collective care.
