Charles Philippe Jean-Pierre is a Haitian American multidisciplinary artist, educator, and lecturer at Howard University. Raised in Chicago and based in Washington, D.C., Jean-Pierre works across painting, collage, and installation to explore layered identity, cultural memory, and global consciousness. His practice investigates migration, spirituality, and the recontextualization of African diasporic visual languages. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in London, Basel, Bridgetown, and Pretoria, as well as at the Embassy of Haiti, International Monetary Fund, and Inter-American Development Bank. His murals and canvas works are held in private and permanent collections internationally. Alongside his studio practice, Jean-Pierre is deeply committed to arts education and cultural diplomacy. He has served as a U.S. Department of State Art in Embassies artist and was invited to participate in the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities White House initiative on arts and social justice. Bridging the local and the global, the ancestral and the contemporary, Jean-Pierre’s work honors cultural histories while imagining new visual languages for the future.
