Bria Edwards
Booth 032Bria Edwards is a Washington, D.C. native who has spent over a decade navigating the visual arts
circuit, developing her visual language, and finding her voice. She strives to dismantle monolithic
myths about Black life, approaching them through the lens of her own experience as a Black
woman. Often working from surveys and interviews with her subjects, Edwards grounds her
practice in research and personal narrative to create space for Black people to be represented
in ways that are honest, multilayered, and truthful.
Edwards holds a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from St. John’s University and maintains an
interdisciplinary practice spanning painting, graphic design, and photography. This cross-
disciplinary approach enables her to engage form, surface, and visual language with conceptual
rigor. Her work has been included in the 2019 juried exhibition Inside Outside, Upside Down at
The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., as well as in her solo exhibitions More Time In A Day
(2023) at Eaton D.C. and What We Do We’ve Always Done (2026). Collectively, these exhibitions
mark her growing presence within Washington, D.C.’s contemporary cultural landscape.
