This painting, in particular, was developed around my first moments visiting my mother's country, Jamaica, and a place I later came to know as “home” too. I have my best memories here in Jamaica and often associate it with my childhood more than my upbringing in New York.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis evokes the dusty, child-like hand on the wooden floor, for example, with chalk pastel, oil pastel, and oil paint. I wanted to have fun with shape, perspective, and material. Finding ways to manipulate what I think I know about material, painting, and my\u003cbr\u003ememories.
